Family Group Conferencing Recognizes that: 1. Families have strengths, and are capable of making decisions and plans which keep their children safe. 2. Families have the most information about themselves to make well-informed decisions. 3. Individuals find security and a sense of belonging with their family; families provide a sense of identity for their children. 4. Families have the ability, if given the opportunity, to activate helping networks within communities to keep children safe. 5. Plans to protect children are most effective when they develop out of the strengths of the community and the culture in which the family lives. Mediation is a service to assist people in voluntarily working together to settle their domestic issues. Mediation focuses on the needs and interests of the participants -- in the areas of parenting plans, property issues, child support, visitation, paternity, as well as other issues specific to your situation. It is recommended that each participant have their own attorney review any agreements reached in a mediation. |
