Mediation is a process that brings two or more
parties together to resolve their dispute though negotiation. It is not
arbitration or a court of law. It is a process that focuses on developing
alternatives for resolving disputes. The mediator does not decide the issues for
the parties, but encourages them to reach mutually agreeable solutions.
The Center for Conflict Resolution is a non-profit
corporation serving 19 counties in western Nebraska: Dawes (Chadron), Sheridan
(Rushville), Box
Butte (Alliance), Sioux (Harrison), Scotts Bluff (Scottsbluff), Morrill (Bridgeport), Garden
(Oshkosh), Banner (Harrisburg), Kimball (Kimball), Cheyenne (Sidney), Deuel (Chappel),
Grant (Hyannis), Hooker (Mullen), Arthur (Arthur) and Keith (Ogallala). It is one of the
six centers statewide providing all Nebraskans with mediation services as an
alternative form of dispute resolution.
